We provide practical finance services and training for people working across all sectors, and at all levels – from CEOs to small business owners. Developed by former CEO, CFO and Chartered Accountant David Thomas, our finance solutions are grounded firmly in the ‘real world’. Rather than get caught up in acronyms and technical terminology, we focus on making finance make sense – and empowering people with practical skills and techniques they can apply right away.

THE FIGUREHEAD OF FIGURE 8

Figure 8 was the brainchild of David Thomas, a former senior executive and Chartered Accountant. David’s career began at KPMG and then Deloitte, where he spent over ten years before moving into the advertising and media sector, then retail banking as a CFO and CEO. Along the way David added to his skillset and qualifications by attaining an Executive Master of Business Administration with a marketing specialty. He has also been actively involved with a prominent charity, firstly as a Board member and subsequently as acting CEO.

 

Through his diverse and extensive experience, David has gained a unique perspective on finance – in particular, how it compounds overall business performance. He firmly believes that all professional people can benefit from understanding the fundamentals of finance, even (or especially) if they aren’t in a finance role. This is why David established Figure 8 as a platform from which to deliver strategic solutions, including short courses, coaching and CFO-on-call services.

 

With his passion for communication, education, motivation and mentoring, David takes a very personal approach to his work with Figure 8. For him, it’s all about helping business people become more capable and confident in their finance abilities – and in turn, achieving better outcomes in business and life.

We believe that many operational finance tasks and decisions are unnecessarily complicated and can seem beyond the reach to those without specialist financial qualifications and experience.
